Configuring a DNS Proxy

The Hillstone device acts as a DNS proxy server and provides proxy service for the connected PCs and other clients.
To enable a DNS proxy, take the following steps:
- Configure a DNS proxy list that contains domain names and corresponding DNS servers.
- Enable DNS proxy on an interface of the Hillstone device (for more details, see Configuring an Interface).
- Connect the client to the interface with DNS proxy enabled.
In the Server and Proxy page, you can execute the following tasks:
- Click New in the DNS Proxy section to create a new DNS proxy.
- Click Edit in the DNS Proxy section to edit the selected DNS proxy.
- Click Delete in the DNS Proxy section to delete the selected DNS proxies.

Domain Type |
Specify a suffix for a domain name:
- Any Domain: Any domain name suffix.
- User-defined: Defines a domain name suffix. Click User-defined and type the domain name into the text box below.

Domain Server |
Specify a DNS server or servers:
- Use system: Uses the DNS server bundled with the system.
- User-defined: Defines an IP address/addresses for the server. Click User-defined and select a virtual router from the Virtual Router drop-down list, then type the IP address for the DNS servers into the text boxes below (6 servers at most).
