User Online Notification
The user online notification function redirects your HTTP request to a new notification page when you visit Internet for the first time. In the process, a prompt page will be shown first, and after you click Continue on this page, the system will redirect your request to the specified notification page. And if you want to visit your original URL, you need to type the URL address in Web browser.
Configuring User Online Notification
To configure the user online notification function, take the following steps:
- Enable the HTTP mode WebAuth function. On the Navigation pane, click Configure > Network > WebAuth to visit the WebAuth page. Click Edit, and then click HTTP in the Mode option.
- Create the policy rule to enable the user online notification function and specify the notification page URL for the controlled traffic.
- On the Navigation pane, click Configure > Security > Policy to visit the Policy page.
- Click New.
- On the Basic tab, specify the traffic conditions and specify the action as permit.
- Under Online notification page on the Advanced tab, select the Enable check box, and type the notification URL into the Notification page URL box.
- Click OK to save your settings.
Configuring the Parameters of User Online Notification
The parameters are:
- Idle time: Time that an online user keeps online without traffic transmitting. If exceeding the idle time, the HTTP request will be redirected to the user online notification page again.
- Background picture of the prompt page: You can change the background picture on the prompt page.
To configure the parameters, take the following steps:
- On the Navigation pane, click Configure > Network > Policy to visit the Policy page.
- On the Task tab in the right pane, click Customize.
- Type the idle time value into the Idle time box. The default value is 30 minutes. The range is 3 to 1440 minutes.
- Change the background picture of the prompt page. Click Browse to choose the picture you want, and then click Upload. The uploaded picture must be zipped and named as web_redirect_bg_en.gif, with the size of 800px*600px.
Viewing Online Users
After configuring the user online notification function, you can get the information of online users from the Online Notification Users dialog.
- On the Navigation pane, click Configure > Network > Policy to visit the Policy page.
- On the Task tab in the right pane, click Online Notification Users. The Online Notification Users dialog shows the user information. The descriptions of the options are:
- IP address: The IP address of the online user.
- Session number: Session number of the online user.
- Interface: The source interface of the online user.
- Lifetime: The period of time during which the user is keeping online.
- Expiration: The idle time of the user.
