Configuring a Virtual-Wire

This section describes how to configure a Virtual-Wire.

Creating a Virtual-Wire

To create a Virtual-Wire, take the following steps:

1. On the Navigation pane, click Configure > Network > Network to visit the Network page.
2. On the Task tab in the right auxiliary pane, click Virtual-Wire.
3. In the Virtual-Wire dialog, click Add. In the Virtual-Wire dialog, configure options.
   • VSwitch: Specifies a VSwitch that is configured with Virtual-Wire.
   • Virtual-Wire Mode: Specifies a Virtual-Wire mode from one of the below options:
     Strict - Packets can only be transmitted between Virtual Wire interfaces, and the VSwitch cannot operate in Hybrid mode. Any PC connected to the Virtual Wire can neither manage devices nor access Internet over this interface.
     Non-strict - Packets can be transmitted between Virtual Wire interfaces, and the VSwitch also supports data forwarding in Hybrid mode. That is, this mode only restricts Layer 2 packets' transmission between Virtual Wire interfaces, and does not affect Layer 3 packets' forwarding.
     Disabled - Disables Virtual-Wire.
   • Interface 1: Specifies an interface for Virtual-Wire interface pair. The two interfaces of one single Virtual-Wire interface pair must be different, and one interface cannot belong to two Virtual-Wire interface pairs simultaneously.
   • Interface 2: Specifies an interface for Virtual-Wire interface pair. The two interfaces of one single Virtual-Wire interface pair must be different, and one interface cannot belong to two Virtual-Wire interface pairs simultaneously.
   • OK: Saves the changes and returns to the previous dialog/page.
   • Cancel: Cancels the changes and returns to the previous dialog/page.
4. Click OK to save your settings.

Deleting a Virtual-Wire

To delete a Virtual-Wire, take the following steps:

1. On the Navigation pane, click Configure > Network > Network to visit the Network page.
2. On the Task tab in the right auxiliary pane, click Virtual-Wire.
3. Select the Virtual-Wire you want to delete from the Virtual-Wire list, and click Delete.
